Advertising Education / Scholarship - Essentially, there are three areas of concentration in advertising education
- students, the general public and the profession. We create programs to
improve the skills, professionalism and standards of current and future
advertising practitioners through education as well as provide an understanding
of, and confidence in, advertising and its contributions to the community
and the economy. We serve as the liaison between middle school, high school,
local college students and faculty to AAF Spokane members.
The Toni M. Robideaux Scholarship Fund recognizes and rewards student achievement and excellence in advertising arts.
All funds generated go directly to students currently enrolled in marketing, advertising, design, or visual communications
programs at local and regional colleges and universities. To apply for a scholarship or for more information on ways
to help support the scholarship fund, please call 509.328.5855 or saf@spokaneadfed.com
Club Management / Financial - Club management is the policies,
procedures and leadership development that contribute to the operations
of a club/federation. We document and present the annual AAF Spokane
budget, program budgets and projected earnings reports for the year.
Communications / Public Relations - Produce and distribute collateral materials,
web site updates and maintenance and eNews announcements exclusively for the club.
Cultural Diversity - Promotes the club to increase the
minority representation in an individual advertising community to more
closely mirror the percentile mix of minorities in the market.
Government Relations / Legislative - Creates effective
relations with local, state and national government. Relationships are
developed through the club/federation’s work to initiate favorable
legislation, contribute to the defeat of adverse legislation, educate
lawmakers and promote industry self-regulation. Recommends appropriate
actions (if any) to be taken on behalf of the members of the AAF Spokane concerning city, county, state or federal legislation.
Historical / Club Achievement - Maintains a scrapbook
of all materials produced for the Spokane Ad Fed and collects photos and
miscellaneous items from our events.
Hospitality - Acts as hosts at our monthly meetings,
welcomes visitors and promotes better acquaintance among all members attending
meetings.
Grape & Grain - Our annual wine and beer tasting event that features some of
the Northwest's finest wineries and breweries. There is also a silent
auction including advertising media packages.
Membership - Membership development is defined as activities
designed to enhance local advertising club/federation membership recruitment,
retention and involvement. Serves as a direct connect between members
and their District Representatives and the American Advertising Federation Directors.
Programs - Quality programming fosters actively interested
membership, well-attended meetings and membership growth. We organize
lunch and learn and night-time events sponsored by AAF Spokane
and other member sponsored events.
Inland Northwest Advertising Awards (ADDY) - Awards show recognizing the best regional
creative talent. This local contest serves as the first level in a three-tiered
national competition.
Public Service / Community Relations - We effectively
use advertising techniques to support local, regional and/or national
programs on behalf of public interests and/or for community betterment.
Annual Charity Golf Tournament - A best-ball scramble tournament, with a shotgun start, that includes various games
throughout the course, individual, and team prizes and a raffle drawing during the BBQ at the end of the day. All proceeds
benefit Project Share, a community-funded program sponsored by area electric, and natural gas utility suppliers to provide
one-time emergency energy assistance to families in our region.
TASC (Teens Against Substance Abuse Campaigns) - Teens from area junior high schools
create advertising (print, radio, television, editorial,
outdoor and campaigns) telling their peers to stay away from drugs and
alcohol. Their creative is judged and rewarded at an annual Awards Ceremony.
