A message from our President:

Wow, what a year it’s been! As you’ve hopefully noticed, AAF Spokane was busy last year with lots of events, awards, programs, and great speakers. We hope we provided our members with great value last year. Our Board of Directors is hard at work planning, and making sure there are plenty of great things for the upcoming year.

To start, I’d like to thank our outgoing board members who’ve worked so hard to further the success of AAF Spokane. Jen Best (TASC Chair), Maggie Crabtree (Red Shoe Chair), Amanda Runkle (Secretary/Treasurer), and Tyreil Poosri (Student Liaison) were all integral parts of last year’s success.
Thank you so much for your hard work and dedication!

Along with that, I’d like to welcome our new board members:

Peter Barber, Designer, Zipline Interactive, Secretary/Treasurer.
Alanna Spencer, Owner, Baroque | creatively adorned design, 2013 ADDY Chair
Jennifer Fanto, Student Liaison, SFCC Graphic Design Student, working to coordinate our student efforts across all of the PR/marketing/design/art/photography students in the region.
Kat Kardas, Designer, Zipline Interactive, is heading up the TASC program for next year.

Last year we had a great year, with a number of successful events. Here are a few highlights:

Our 2011 Golf tournament had a full set of 18 teams at Circling Raven Golf Course, raising over $3,700 for Project Share!

Red Shoe was another success last year, helping us provide $1,000 scholarships to 5 exceptional students. Congrats once more to:
Tyreil Poosri (EWU), Melanie Bond (SFCC), Ryan Maskell (NIC), Jeremy Stebbins (SFCC) and Kayla Panton (NIC).

TASC (Teens Against Substance Abuse Campaign), our partnership with local middle school schools and students to create anti-drug & alcohol campaigns in TV, radio, outdoor, print and digital received hundreds of entries. We were able to award 15 winners across all media.

The ADDY Awardswere a blast this year, with some great creative at the awards! And great dancing & fire-breathing at the after-party. Alanna is in charge this time, so next year promises to be unforgettable! From the local awards, our clubs entries went on to receive 15 awardsat the District level, and 2 National Awards!

Congrats to all of last year’s winners, and our Ad Pro of the Year, Nick Murto!

The upcoming year promises to be a lot of fun, starting with our Golf Tournament benefitting Project Share. This year’s event is on Wednesday, August 29th at Circling Raven Golf Course. Space is limited to only 18 teams, so make sure to register right away!

Our Board of Directors retreat is coming up soon, so we’ll have a lot more to share with our members in the coming weeks. If you have any ideas, requests or would like to get involved, please feel free to contact me anytime. In the meantime, we hope you enjoy the rest of the summer.

Thank you for your continued support of AAF Spokane, and the local advertising community!
